Can Paverpol be used to stiffen a full size tie dyed t-shirt then remove the frame or whatever you would use to hold it open. I'd like to have it just stand or hang as a display without a frame.
Yes! You can use Paverpol to stiffen a whole t-shirt. Be sure you use plastic to shape it so it won't stick. Look on the www.paverpol.com (Netherlands) site-- there is a shirt just as you are asking about in the photo gallery.
After you have the shape, you will probably want to brush on another coat for extra strength since there is no armature. Just remember that extreme heat or humidity could cause a slight softening on unsupported fabric. Once it cools down, it will reharden. It will not lose its shape unless you force it.
Good luck-- send us photos of the finished project!
I'm about to start a similar t-shirt project and am wondering what size bucket of Paverpol to purchase. Can you give me an idea how much it takes to do one t-shirt? I'll be doing many, but don't want to purchase more than I need, considering the cost. Also, any advice on the turnout of your project is appreciated! Thanks!
You should be able to get at least two t-shirts hardened from a 1000 gram pot. You can add up to 1/4 c. water to stretch cover w/o compromising finished strength. I know it doesn't sound like much, but it really does increase the viscosity.
